Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi , Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman) of Pakistan
Mr. Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, has taken oath on 27th December, 2021 as 8th regular Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman) of Pakistan. He has done his Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Punjab and one in Public Policy & Planning from Pennsylvania State University, USA. He joined Civil Service of Pakistan in 1972 through competitive examination.
He has vast experience of working at Federal and Provincial Governments, and held positions of Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw, Chief Secretary Sindh, Secretary Railways, and Federal Secretary Environment. He remained Provincial Secretary of a number of departments including the post of Addl. Chief Secretary (Dev.), Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner. He has been Consul General / Trade Commissioner of Pakistan in Canada and Pakistan’s Permanent Representative at a UN Body (International Civil Aviation Organization). He was awarded ‘Tamghai-Eisar’ for his outstanding work in the Earthquake of 2005. After retirement, he has been working as Senior Advisor in the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat, Islamabad.
He is also the President of the Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA).
