Federal Ombudsman stresses upon investigating officers to provide maximum relief to complainants.

Honourable Mohtasib Syed Tahir Shahbaz chaired a meeting of Investigating Officers of the secretariat to review the progress of investigative work. While addressing the Investigating Officers of Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat, Honourable Mohtasib stressed on need of providing maximum relief to the complainants. Honourable Mohtasib expressed satisfaction on the disposal of complaints, however, he directed the Investigation Officers to recommend disciplinary actions against the officials responsible for serious maladministration. He further directed to organize meetings with the major federal government agencies to address systemic issues to improve their administration and justice delivery mechanism. Investigating Officers were instructed to ensure that the agencies send senior level of representatives during hearing of cases. He also directed the Investigating Officers of regional offices to frequently visit districts and tehsils to personally hear complaints of the public under the OCR (Outreach Complaint Resolution) Programme.

Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi, Senior Adviser informed the participants of the meeting that a total of 34,157 cases were registered from January to June, 2019. While giving a comparison, he informed that 8.31% more cases were registered in the first six months of 2019 than 2018. Similarly, Mr. Shahidullah Baig Senior Adviser Implementation informed that 12,146 cases were forwarded for implementation out of which 9685 cases had already been implemented and 2461 cases of complicated nature were pending for implementation. Upon which, The Ombudsman directed the concerned officers to clear the pending cases in the shortest possible time.

Ombudsman also ordered the establishment of facilitation desks to facilitate the complainants. He also directed to work more aggressively on awareness campaign, as the current year is being celebrated as the year of awareness.
